FORWARDING = ORGANIZING

Organizing transport as per terms and conditions of the sales contract. This would be a nice and brief description of our job. It looks a not too difficult straight forward job if you know how to handle it. The problem is that to complete one job, upto 10 different parties may be involved. It is our job and responsibility to co-ordinate between these parties, to look after it that each party gets its instructions at the right time, does its job within the limitations of the contract, and at the right or agreed price.

EXPORT (OUTBOUND)

Outbound our organizing skills show up well because mostly the client asks for a seafreight rate from port to port, which then can result in a total concept from door to door, e.g.

  • FOB deliveries
  • FOB receipts
  • Seafreight: containers, conventional, project cargo, heavy lifts ...
  • Custom formalities (out and in)
  • Onward deliveries

It may happen that we have to organize door to door consignments for which we appeal to the services of our overseas correspondents.

Otherwise we take control of the goods in Antwerp and arrange for:
  • Reception from the shipping line, including physical control in case of conventional shipment
  • Customs clearance
  • Delivery or warehousing

PROJECT CARGO

PROJECT FORWARDING = COMPREHENSIVE FORWARDING

Not the presence of one forwarder on different continents should be a basis for starting negociations on high level for project contracts. We have proven, and still do, that also a small forwarding company can compete with the big ones.
Working via overseas agents in many cases has proven to give better results where it concerns service and prices, simply because of the competitive element: forced by the competition to perform better.

Again communication is the basis of a good working system. Moving cargo smoothly from A to B, whether by sea, air or road is very important. More important however is how the cargo is handled, and not only physically, on departure and on arrival.
Comprehensive forwarding means a commitment towards the parties concerned, whether seller or buyer, subcontractor or agent and if played correctly will be reciprocated by same.
